Note: Both Upward Cheerleading AND Prek Basketball are FULL for 2024-25.
We are accepting walk on registrations for Elementary Basketball only but we have limited spaces available. You may attend Upward Evaluations week Nov 11, 12 or 14 between 6-8pm to register in person only, while spaces remain. These will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis and payment must be received at time of registration.

2024-25 UPWARD SPORTS EVALUATIONS & ORIENTATION
Every child and a parent/guardian is required to attend ONE Evaluations night.

Basketball Evaluations (for kids in K-5th)

  • Dates: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday Nov 11-12 and 14, 2024. You will receive your scheduled Evaluation night and time, based on your child’s registration, closer to Evaluations week.

  • Evaluations for kids in K-5th grade includes basic skills of dribbling, shooting and the defensive slide. Coaching is provided throughout the experience for children new to the sport.

Preschool Basketball Orientation (for kids age 4 or 5 years old by December ‘24 and not yet in K) -

  • Date: Sunday Nov 10, 2024. You will receive your scheduled time to arrive, closer to Evaluations week.

  • Preschool Basketball Orientation is a fun, interactive introduction to the sport through games and onsite coaching. Every child has a chance to try dribbling and shooting with a preschool-size ball and hoop!

Cheer Orientation (for girls in K-5th)

  • Date: Sunday Nov 10, 2024. You will receive your scheduled time to arrive, closer to Evaluations week.

  • Cheer Orientation is an enthusiastic start to the season where girls meet each other and their coaches and receive an introduction to cheer basics. Every girl gets a set of practice pom-poms to take home!

K-5th GRADE BASKETBALL/CHEER PRACTICES
Each team/squad practices 1 hour each week throughout the season, following the schedule below.
Practices take place on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings on the hour between 5-8pm (last practice at 7pm).
All practices take place indoors at Allison Park Church: 2326 Duncan Ave, Allison Park, PA 15101.

Special Requests
Each participant is able to select ONE practice night exclusion and ONE carpool request for the season.
In order to create balanced teams for the size of our league, we cannot guarantee all requests will be honored, but we will consider these requests during the draft.

  • First Elementary Practice Week - Sunday December 8th- December 13th, 2024

  • No Practices - during Christmas/New Years Holiday Weeks (December 14th, 2024 -January 1st, 2025)

  • Practices Resume - Thursday Jan 2nd, 2025 and continue on their usual schedule through Friday Feb 21st, 2025

K-5th GRADE GAME DAYS
Games for basketball and cheer participants are 1 hour on the hour on Saturdays Jan-Feb, 2024 between (approximately) 8am-3pm. Game times vary each week and depend on the breakdown of teams for the season. An official game schedule will be released the end of December.
Participants' families and friends are always welcome to come watch! A Snack Bar is available to purchase concessions on Saturdays.
Cheerleaders cheer on Court C (concourse) for both teams during Game Day and perform halftime pom routines and cheers through the season.

  • First Elementary Game Day - Sat Jan 4, 2025 and will continue every Saturday through February 22, 2025.

PRESCHOOL BASKETBALL EXPERIENCE
Our PreK Basketball program is a fun and introductory basketball experience for children who are 4 or 5 years old (as of December ‘24) and not yet in Kindergarten.
All Preschool Basketball Experiences are scheduled on Sunday afternoons for 1 hour. Each includes 30 minutes of practice and 30 minutes of a scrimmage or game. Coaches are present and engaged on the court throughout the hour.
*All Preschool Experiences are scheduled on Sunday only - see dates below.

  • PreK Basketball Experiences are Sunday afternoons:

    • First Prek Basketball Experience: Sun Jan 5, 2025

    • PreK Experiences continue every Sunday afternoon through February 23, 2025

UPWARD CELEBRATION NIGHT
Join us for an end of the season celebration for every player and cheerleader! This interactive gameshow event is specifically designed for elementary Upward stars and their parents. Kids have a chance to win prizes, meet mascot characters and enjoy refreshments in our afterparty. Everything is free, but registration will be required. Each player or cheerleader can register themselves and 1 adult.
